I have been employed as a Membership Services Coordinator at the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa since 2009. The main focus of my position involves working with our member agents to place their Errors & Omissions coverage.
Before joining a trade association, my past experience included working as a commercial lines account manager at large agencies in Indiana and Iowa. I began my insurance career handling claims processing in Iowa then subrogation in Indiana for a large truck insurance carrier.
I have been a member of NAIW since 1994 when I joined the Hoosier Insurance Association in Indiana. Upon moving to Iowa in 2001, I transferred my membership to IAGDM. I have been active in NAIW dba International Association of Insurance Professionals by serving on committees at the local, council, regional and national levels. I have also taken many NAIW-developed courses and presented a few of their 30 minute developed presentations.
I had the pleasure of serving as the Iowa Council Director for the 2008-2009 term. I was elected to serve as the Iowa Council Public Relations Chair for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 terms.

I have been employed as a Senior Commercial Underwriter in the Special Risk Department with EMC Insurance Companies since December of 2006. Prior to EMC, I was a Senior Commercial Underwriter with Hawkeye Insurance Company. Des Moines has been my home for around 6 years.
Prior to moving to Des Moines, I was with Hawkeye Security Insurance in St. Louis, MO. for 4 years.
The majority of my life has been spent in St. Paul, MN, where I was a Senior Agri-Underwriter with MSI Insurance Company. I have been in the insurance industry since 1974, and hold the CPCU, AU, CIC, CPIW designations, and just received my DAE designation.
While in St. Paul, I was a member of the St. Paul Association of Insurance Women. I joined IAGDM in May of 2007, and have served as Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary and have served on several Committees.
I am married, and live with my husband, Chuck. We have three grown sons and two granddaughters. I enjoy visiting my children, who are spread out geographically, visiting my granddaughters in MN, travel, reading and shopping.

I joined the IAGDM chapter of the NAIW in 2004. Currently I serve on the Education Committee, am a Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Program Committee and serve on the Audit and Budget Committees. I also served at both the local and state level on the Horizon Plan Committee.
I am honored to begin my term as Vice President in order to have an opportunity to return to the membership the enthusiasm and opportunities that NAIW has given to me. I find the mentors and members inspiring and want to help reach out to the next generation to utilize the group to its fullest potential. I strongly believe that the NAIW shapes character, develops skills and forms the leaders of tomorrow. I want to assist in the continued development of our local chapter.
During my spare time, I am active in my son’s activities with support through volunteering activities, the Booster Club, and the Friends of Fine Arts program. I earned the distinction of Polk County Master Gardener and I volunteer time at local gardening projects and at the Des Moines Botanical Center.

My insurance career began with GuideOne Mutual Insurance in 1986 in the Marketing Department of a subsidiary called Midwest Mutual. In 1987, I transferred to the GuideOne Commercial Underwriting Department as an Underwriting Assistant. I joined CGA Insurance Services (CGA), a wholly owned subsidiary of GuideOne Insurance, in 1991 as a Commercial Underwriter. I was later promoted to CGA Accounting Manager in 1995 and CGA Agency Manager / Lead Principal in 2001. I retired from GuideOne Insurance in June 2011 after 25 years of service.
Today I am co-owner of Conroy Insurance Services, LLC (www.ConroyLLC.com), an independent insurance agency in Windsor Heights, IA that was started in 2010. The agency represents Chubb, GuideOne, The Hartford, Progressive and Travelers.
I have been a member of IADGM for nine years. I have had the privilege of serving as the Treasurer in 2003 - 2004, 2009 - 2010 and again in 2010 -2011. I earned my Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2007 and my Certified Insurance Industry Professional (CIIP) in 2009. I hold both Life/Health and Property/Casualty licenses in 48 states.
I am married to Robert Conroy, CPCU, CIC. He retired after 34 years with GuideOne Insurance to become co-owner of Conroy Insurance Services, LLC. We have 5 children and three grandchildren. I enjoy traveling, reading, biking, and spending time with my family. For the last four years I have helped facilitate three 13 week “Financial Peace University” financial planning classes each year at my church helping people learn how to budget and plan for their future.

I am currently a Client Service Assistant in the Risk Management Department with Holmes Murphy & Associates. I joined HMA on April 3, 2006. I have been in the insurance industry since 1981, started with Preferred Risk (now GuideOne). I did take some time off to be a stay at home Mom. I have my Iowa Insurance license in Property/Casualty and my CISR and CPIW designations.
I have been a member of IAGDM for 5+ years and have served on several local committees and have co-chaired the Public Relations for 3 years. I have been on the IAGDM Board as the Recording Secretary for the 2010-2011 term. I have served and helped on committees at Council and Regional. I also won the Maggie O’Toole award for “first timer” at the 2009 Regional in MN. I have completed CWC and Underwriters for NON-UW programs offered through NAIW.
My main passion now is my first granddaughter Lucy and a close second is QUILTING! I also enjoy scrapbooking, Nascar and traveling with my fiancé Jeff.

I am currently employed as a Commercial Underwriter for Farm Bureau Property & Casualty Insurance Co. I have been employed by Farm Bureau since 1994, starting in the Lincoln, Nebraska office and transferring to the West Des Moines office in July 2005. My entire career has been in the Commercial Underwriting Department starting as a renewal clerk and working my way up to Commercial Underwriter. Effective May 1, my new position is as a Commercial Marketing Underwriter and I will be handling the western half of Iowa.
I have been a member of IAGDM/NAIW since March 2010 and have been on the IAGDM Horizon Plan, Public Relations Committee & Nominating Committee this year. I earned my AU in 2004 and am currently working on my CPCU. I am looking forward to serving in the office of Treasurer for 2011 – 2012 because I have to admit I like accounting. I started out as an accounting major in college and did the book work for a print shop when I was in high school. This included handling the accounts receivable, accounts payable & the quarterly unemployment tax reports.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, and watching movies. Also being from Nebraska I am a college football fan and look forward to watching Nebraska football every fall.
